Winterball 2010

There is always some confusion on how winter ball works. We are going to try and explain it here to clear up any confusion. Winter ball teams are formed and run independently and not through SVGS. Teams register through Thousand Oaks Girls Softball Association and pay them a fee of $750 per team. Teams play two games on Sundays at different locations depending on their age. There is a rec division and an all star division in 10U, 12U and 14U. the winter ball season runs from the first Sunday after Labor Day in September to the last Sunday in October. If you are interested in playing winter ball, you need to find a manager that is taking a team and get on their team. We recommend you start asking your managers, assistant coaches, etc. as soon as possible to get a spot. Our league also has a sign up sheet at closing ceremonies where you can put down your name if you have not found a team. We publish this list for managers who are looking for players. You are not guaranteed a spot on a team. Unfortunately, there are usually girls that do not get on a team. We want everyone to get on a team this year so we are making the following changes:

The names of all known SVGS managers taking winter ball teams will be posted on the SVGS web site along with their phone number if they need players or not. You can then call them to get a spot.

We will also actively try and find managers to take teams to get all the girls on the list on a team. Unfortunately we cannot guarantee everyone will get a spot as it depends on the number of managers we get to volunteer to take a team. When you sign up at closing ceremonies, please make sure to include your email address and phone number. We will be communicating with you over the summer.

If you ever thought about managing or coaching a team, winter ball is the perfect opportunity to start.
