Congratulations 10u Gold!
Updates from Lori Shedlock: The girls just won their first game 7-0 against New Mexico. Lolo pitched great. The other team only had one runner on base the whole game...Lolo made it to the last inning, two outs and walked one.
If not for that, she would have had a perfect game!
The girls looked great. Back to the pool. We play again tomorrow.
Update from Erin Moran: New Mexico colors were Purple and Red so the Amanda gear was perfect for them and they loved their gifts!
Some things were just meant to be....
This team has not only been working hard on the field but they have also been working hard fundraising! They sold over $4000 in raffle tickets! Congratulations to Eric Brown who won the 50/50 raffle at Cronies! Thank you to everyone who bought tickets and came out to Cronies last night to show your support!
The 10u Gold Team went undefeated in the District Tournament which qualified them for State where they placed 4th! They are on their way to NATIONALS!! We are very excited and proud to have them represent SVGS! This team is not only winning games but are also being recognized for their awesome sportsmanship. We received this email from a parent on the WAGS 10u team:
My Name is Charlie Cangelosi and I have a daughter on the WAGS Girls 10-U Gold team. I wanted to relay an experience I had this weekend at the State Championships that I thought should be shared. Two weeks ago at the District playoffs WAGS had to play Simi for the District Championship. Simi ended up winning both games and the District Championship in a great set of games. I know that we walked away from those games a little sad for the beating, but also with a great deal of respect for your Coaches and your Girls. Fast forward two weeks to the State Championships.....WAGS had just finished a game and saw that Simi was playing Mission Viejo in a hotly contested international playoff...All of our girls wanted to watch the game and sat down behind the backstop. The next thing you know, all of our girls were cheering and singing Simi Got the what, what!! It was fun to watch the good sportsmanship of our girls and to see how much your kids and your parents appreciated the support. Well, later that day, WAGS was in the same spot against a very good Mission Viejo team and just when we needed it most (We were down 2-1) your girls came running over, after playing all day, with all your coaches and rooted WAGS on to victory....That win helped propel WAGS to the State Championship. The sportsmanship that I saw that day between two great, competitive with each other, programs really got to me. I am so proud of both programs and I just wanted to share this experience. I believe this is what sports is all about! When you talk one of your 10-U Gold coaches, ask them about it and I am sure they will have the same feelings.
Thank you Simi and See you in Nationals!!

Winterball: August 1st is the first official day of winterball. All interested managers should be visiting the Thousand Oaks Girls Softball website to obtain the forms and information needed to participate in winterball. http://www.togsa.org/default_css.aspx
ALL winterball managers MUST contact John Whiteley on or after August 1st to be assigned a practice field for winterball. You can email him at 1stvp@svgsoftball.org Fields will be assigned on a first come, first serve basis.
Any winterball managers in need of more players can contact Gina Gooding at president@svgsoftball.org to receive a copy of the interest list.
Please take a moment to read the information in the Winterball tab of our website. SVGS does not run winterball and there is no draft process. You must find a forming team or take a team yourself to ensure your daughter plays otherwise the interest list is only accessed by managers who need to fill their team. There are no guarantees that your daughter will make it onto a team by placing her name on the interest list. We apologize for any confusion!
